An excellent well crystalised moss green carpet of micro bladed crystals richly line an open vug in the centre of this mudstone nodule. This locality in the Vilella Stream is well known to Spanish collectors, but not so well known outside the country.
Anapaite is a calcium–iron phosphate mineral with formula: Ca2Fe2+(PO4)2·4H2O
and often crystallizes in the form of tabular crystals and bladed clusters.
Anapaite was first discovered in 1902 by Arthur Sachs who named it after its type locality near the Black Sea in Anapa, Taman Peninsula, Russia.
